Understand our history
More than 100 years ago some thoughtful, pioneering leaders realized the strength of many. A group of farmers, for example, formed cooperatives to market their crops. Rural communities formed cooperatives to bring electricity to villages and towns. Workers formed credit unions as a place to save regularly and borrow at modest rates.
